Affiliate Landing Pages - FAQs

Can I assign the same landing page to more than one affiliate?

No, a landing page can only be assigned to  one affiliate at any given time. The way in which the landing page is assigned to an affiliate allows AffiliateWP to correctly determine which affiliate should be tracked.

Can an affiliate with a landing page assigned to them still promote the landing page with their affiliate ID or username appended? E.g. /?ref=123

They can but it will be completely ignored. There's no need for the affiliate to include their ID or username when they have a landing page assigned to them.

Where can an affiliate share their landing page?

Since the landing page is just a standard URL it can be shared anywhere where a normal URL can be shared.

Does AffiliateWP's "Cookie Expiration" setting apply to Affiliate Landing Pages?

Yes, the cookie expiration setting in AffiliateWP does apply to Affiliate Landing Pages, as it does with a regular affiliate link. An affiliate landing page is treated the same as a normal affiliate link, the only difference being that the affiliate can promote the landing page URL without needing to use their affiliate link.

Affiliates who have landing pages assigned to them are still treated as normal affiliates and so the same rules apply. In order to receive a commission on the customer's purchase, the customer needs to make the purchase within the number of days determined by the cookie expiration.

How does affiliate tracking work with the Affiliate Landing Pages add-on?

Tracking works exactly the same as  standard tracking in AffiliateWP.

Does affiliate tracking in Affiliate Landing Pages work in conjunction with standard affiliate tracking (e.g. not all affiliates have allocated landing pages)?

Yes, landing pages that track an affiliate work in the exact same way as standard affiliate tracking. For example, if you have some affiliates who do not have an allocated landing page, their affiliate links will not be affected in any way and will continue to work as normal. See the other FAQs below to read about some different scenarios.

If Affiliate A shares Affiliate B's landing page, but adds their ID or username to the end (to essentially hijack the landing page), which affiliate will be tracked when a customer clicks the link?

Standard affiliate links will not work on a landing page that has been assigned to an affiliate. In this scenario, Affiliate B will be tracked since they are the affiliate assigned to the landing page.

If a customer clicks on Affiliate A’s affiliate link and then navigates to Affiliate B’s landing page, which affiliate will be tracked?

Since the customer first arrived on the website via Affiliate A’s affiliate link, Affiliate A will be tracked, even if they navigate to Affiliate B’s landing page. Unless:

  1. The Credit Last Referrer option is enabled from Affiliates → Settings → General. This would change the tracked affiliate to Affiliate B.
  2. The customer's AffiliateWP cookies expired before they navigated to Affiliate B's landing page. If the customer lands on Affiliate B's landing page after the cookie has expired, a new visit will be stored, and the tracked affiliate will be Affiliate B.

If a customer visits Affiliate A's landing page first, then clicks Affiliate B's affiliate link at a later point, which affiliate will be tracked?

Since the customer visited Affiliate A’s landing page first, Affiliate A will be tracked. Unless:

  1. The Credit Last Referrer option is enabled from Affiliates → Settings → General. This would change the tracked affiliate to Affiliate B.
  2. The customer's AffiliateWP cookies expired before they clicked Affiliate B's affiliate link. If the customer clicks Affiliate B's affiliate link after the cookie has expired, a new visit will be stored, and the tracked affiliate will be Affiliate B.

If a customer visits Affiliate A’s landing page first, then visits Affiliate B’s landing page, which affiliate will be tracked?

Since the customer visited Affiliate A’s landing page first, Affiliate A will be tracked. Unless:

  1. The Credit Last Referrer option is enabled from Affiliates → Settings → General. This would change the tracked affiliate to Affiliate B.
  2. The customer's AffiliateWP cookies expired before they navigated to Affiliate B's landing page. If the customer lands on Affiliate B's landing page after the cookie has expired, a new visit will be stored, and the tracked affiliate will be Affiliate B.

Can I automatically create a landing page for affiliates when they register on my site?

Not at this time. It’s something we’ll likely introduce in a future version of Affiliate Landing Pages.
